Working at Instron
I joined Instron in November 2014 fresh from completing my A Levels. I started as a Business Administrator Apprentice for the Service Department; where I was an apprentice for 15 months. I completed my Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration in March 2016.
I found that my time as an Apprentice at Instron was so helpful; previous to Instron I hadn’t had a lot of experience working in a professional environment, it has boosted my confidence in the work place a lot. I was also given the opportunity to help out with different events and projects as an Apprentice outside my ‘day to day’ job in Service, such as the Advanced Engineering Show at the NEC in Birmingham and the Service Newsletter.
What does your role involve?
My role as a Junior Service Account Representative involves mainly Customer Service. We are the first point of contact for customer enquiries including: Calibration & Service, breakdowns, spare parts, training requests, repairs, service contracts, software support and machine moves. The list goes on and on!
How did you become a Junior Service Account Representative?
I joined Instron as a Business Administrator Apprentice in November 2014 having just finished my A-Levels, during my time as an apprentice I worked for Service mainly supporting Ireland and Nordic territories. I completed my Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration in April 2016, I then naturally progressed to the role of Junior Service Account Representative for Ireland and Nordic.
"You don't always have to go to University to get a job in a global company; by starting as an Apprentice it gave me opportunities to try out different areas of business which has raised my profile in the company."
